Working with zBackup's Destination Options / Advanced Settings

When you set up an automatic backup of your Zoom recordings to a cloud service like Dropbox, Google Drive, Vimeo, YouTube, or OneDrive using zBackup, you have the ability to set up custom settings for your backup. These settings are set on a per-destination basis, except deleting recordings upon a successful backup, which is set on a per-account basis.

Want to automatically upload your Town Halls to YouTube but not your Board Meetings? Don't need the chat file on Google Drive? Don't want to back up meetings shorter than 5 minutes long? This is where you do that.

How to access the Destination Options / Advanced Settings:
Once you've set up your backup destinations, scroll to the right of the screen (by hovering over the destination options and scrolling over that part only and click on "Options".

About the Destination Options:

This section gives an explanation of every portion of these settings.
  1. Meeting Duration: By default, zBackup will back up meetings longer than 0 minutes and shorter than "unlimited" minutes. In other words, it will back up all meetings. For example, you will want to change this if you don't want to automatically back up someone joining the wrong meeting accidentally and leaving within 5 minutes or save storage space on your destination account.
To only backup meetings that are longer than a certain amount of time, raise the amount of time in the first dropdown and keep the second dropdown on "unlimited"
To only backup meetings that are shorter than a certain amount of time, keep the amount of time in the first dropdown on "0" and lower the second dropdown.

  2. Backup File Types: This setting lets you select which types of files to back up to your destination. Some destinations like Vimeo or YouTube will only accept video files. The file types are:
    1. Video - an MP4 video file of the recording
    2. Audio - an M4A audio file of the recording
    3. Chat Text - a TXT file of all of the chats that took place during the meeting
    4. Timeline - a JSON file of the showing a timestamp of the recording. You must manually enable a timeline file in your Zoom recording settings.

  3. Backup Meeting Types: This setting filters which types of meetings you'd like to back up to your destination. All meeting types have the same resulting file types mentioned in "Backup File Types". The meeting types are:
    1. Instant - A meeting set up for instant use via Zoom's app or website
    2. Scheduled/Recurring - A meeting scheduled using Zoom's various scheduling methods
    3. Personal ID - A meeting set up using your personal meeting ID
    4. Dial-in/PAC - Audio-only conferencing using Zoom
    5. Webinar - A webinar-format meeting set up using Zoom's paid Webinar add-on

  4. Meeting Name Filters: The 4th and 5th filters allow you to filter for meetings that do and do not contain your keyword. You can use both if you'd like, but they will need to match both criteria to be recorded.

For example, if your settings show this:

These meetings WILL NOT be backed up:
    > "Our Townhall Meeting"
    > "February Board Meeting"
    > "Conference Call with Jamie"

These meetings WILL be backed up:
    > "October Townhall"
    > "Year-end Townhall for 2021"
    > "Townhall to end all Townhalls"

Keywords are not case-sensitive and can match partial words too.

  5. Notification Options: This setting allows you to receive a notification for when a meeting is or is not backed up. This email notification is on a per-destination basis, so if you have it turned on for 3 destinations, you will receive 3 emails. The email notifications will go to the email listed in your Account section which is synced from your Zoom account.
